Jesús de Miguel Alameda died at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, at the University Hospital Nuestra Señora de Candelaria in Tenerife. The 30-year-old forward was in the intensive care unit following an incident during a football match the previous day. Club director CD Tenerife confirmed the death via an official statement.

The incident occurred on Monday, November 2, during the twelfth round of Spain's Segunda División. Tenerife led 2-0 before FC Andorra scored twice in the 80th and 87th minutes to equalize the match. The score remained 2-2 until the final moments of the game.

During stoppage time, De Miguel moved forward on a counterattack. FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono left his penalty area to intercept the ball. According to Spanish media reports, Owono struck De Miguel in the chest with his knee. The forward fell unconscious on the pitch.

De Miguel suffered a cardiopulmonary arrest and was revived on the field. An ambulance transported him to the hospital. The referee ejected Owono and permanently suspended the match in the 108th minute. Police opened an investigation in coordination with judicial authorities.

CD Tenerife initially reported that the player was stable given the severity of the situation. His neurological condition worsened during the night. The club described itself as "broken with pain" and expressed support for the family and fans. The family thanked supporters for their messages and asked for privacy.

Clubs across Spain sent condolences. Gerard Piqué, president of FC Andorra, wrote that he felt the loss "with all my soul." Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, and Sevilla FC published messages of sympathy. Real Madrid held a minute of silence during training. Espanyol postponed the presentation of new manager Eder Sarabia.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation suspended the Copa del Rey and Copa de la Reina matches scheduled for Tuesday. The federation also postponed the presentation of the under-21 national team's match against Japan in Almendralejo. New dates for these events will be announced later.

De Miguel was born in Madrid on September 21, 1996. Known as "Demi," he trained at Leganés and played for Internacional de Madrid, Fuenlabrada, Unión Adarve, and Navalcarnero. He established his career at Unionistas de Salamanca, scoring 12 goals in the 2021-22 season.

He joined CD Castellón in January 2023 and helped the team earn promotion to the Segunda División. De Miguel was the top scorer in his Primera RFEF group with 16 goals in the 2023-24 campaign. He signed with CD Tenerife in July 2025.

Spanish media reported that De Miguel’s wife and daughter, who is just over one year old, were in the stadium when the collision happened. His parents traveled to the island urgently during the night. The player’s death has drawn reactions from rivals, clubs, and fans across the football community.
