Sandoitchi, a Dallas-based restaurant specializing in Japanese-inspired sandwiches and matcha beverages, will open its first permanent Houston location on Saturday, October 31. The new shop at 1603 N. Durham Dr. marks the brand's entry into the Heights neighborhood and serves as its inaugural flagship store.

Chef Stevie Nguyen and Kevin Tran founded the company in 2020. Their concept draws inspiration from Japanese convenience stores, aiming to provide affordable and accessible food. The menu centers on "sandos," which are sandwiches served on milk bread with the crusts removed.

Diners can choose from traditional items such as spicy truffle chicken katsu, egg salad, and strawberry cream. The menu also features less conventional options including roasted chicken club, shrimp katsu, and lobster roll sandos. Beyond sandwiches, the establishment offers ramen, rice bowls, snacks, and desserts.

The beverage program focuses on matcha made with ceremonial grade product from Rocky’s Matcha. Available drinks include matcha lattes and hojicha lattes in flavors like mango, strawberry, and yuzu matcha soda.

Tran noted that Houston embraced the brand's early experiments. "We’ve always wanted to create more than just a place to grab a sandwich or a matcha," Tran said in a statement. "This flagship gives us the opportunity to bring the entire Sandoitchi experience to life in a space of our own, in a city that has been part of our story from the start."
