Goldfinch International, the emerging-markets arm of London-based financier Goldfinch, is moving capital into Bangladesh and Indonesia. The company is structuring a proposed Bangladeshi soccer league and an Indonesian film joint venture as part of a wider Asia push. These moves replicate the model Goldfinch used in the Gulf with partner Fablemill.
In Bangladesh, the company has aligned with 1CS Holdings Limited, led by Nazir Alam. Alam’s firm is originating the projects and managing local execution. Goldfinch, 1CS Holdings, Fablemill, and Germany’s Akani Group formed a consortium called the Bangladesh Strategic Partnership, or BSP. The group aims to direct foreign investment and skills training into the country’s sports and creative sectors.
BSP signed a memorandum of understanding with the Bangladesh Football Federation earlier this month. The agreement explores the creation of the Bangladesh Super League. This competition would merge existing clubs with new regional franchises. The structure pairs professional governance with international commercial expertise. The consortium plans to pitch British and European clubs, family offices, specialist investors, and the Bangladeshi diaspora. It is also evaluating soccer facilities, academies, athlete rehabilitation, and sports employment.
Nazir Alam, executive chairman of BSP, stated that Bangladesh has extraordinary potential in sport, technology, and the creative economy. He cited the talent of Generation Z as a key driver. Alam described the federation MoU as a first step toward a wider ecosystem of investment and international collaboration.
The group has opened discussions with the Bangladesh Olympic Association, the ICT Division, Startup Bangladesh, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. These talks cover possible sports infrastructure and institutional cooperation. BSP is also considering a National Creative Economy Partnership. This would cover international production, creative infrastructure, intellectual property, and technology opportunities for young people.
In Indonesia, Goldfinch entered a joint venture opportunity partnership with Jakarta creative company Rangkai. This follows an MoU signed with Rangkai and the Jakarta Film Commission at the Cannes Film Festival in May. The venture combines Rangkai’s local distribution record and government connections with Goldfinch’s global sales network and production financing. The partnership will focus on community building, distribution, global sales, production, and advisory services. It aims to connect Indonesian talent with overseas buyers and investors.
Redemptus Rangga Raditya, CEO of Rangkai, said his company spent five years building ties with Indonesian filmmakers and government bodies. He noted that Goldfinch brings international reach and financing experience. Raditya said the two entities are building the venture as equals.
The Gulf model stems from a strategic alliance launched at Cannes this year. Fablemill, led by Eman Alsabah, serves as the Gulf-based advisory arm. The wider platform includes a production debt fund for emerging markets. That fund launched in 2025 and is due to begin deploying capital in early 2027. The group also formed Vault 47, a Singapore-based branded entertainment studio, with Virtue in late 2025. Goldfinch says it is currently in talks with partners in several other Global South territories.
Phil McKenzie, co-founder and COO of Goldfinch, said the firm supplies capital and structure to turn market access into leagues, studios, and skilled jobs. In November, the Goldfinch team will travel to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Antigua and Barbuda. The group will promote the Commonwealth Creative Industries Alliance, which now reaches 56 nations, and unveil further development programs.
