A cleaning crew was arrested on Oct. 23 after a larceny complaint was filed in the 2000 block of Dell Rose Drive. The crew members were identified as Shawna Stewart, 48; Derek Rohner, 49; and Niakna Russo, 30. Police said the reporting party had hired the crew through Facebook Marketplace to clean a house being staged for an estate sale. When the party returned, they found stolen items in the crew’s vehicle. The stolen property included propane tanks, a Blu-Ray player, alcohol and toiletries. Rohner admitted to stealing alcohol from the house. Officers searched the vehicle and found narcotics in Stewart’s bag. Russo was found with paraphernalia in her bag and admitted to having narcotics and paraphernalia on her person.

The suspects were taken to the Bloomfield Township Police Department. It was discovered that Stewart had more paraphernalia hidden on her person. Officers recovered five grams of suspected methamphetamine and two grams of suspected fentanyl from the suspects.

Stewart was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a 10-year felony, and receiving and concealing stolen property, a 93-day misdemeanor. Rohner was charged with larceny in a building, a 4-year felony. Russo was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a 4-year felony. Stewart and Russo were released on $5,000 personal recognizance bonds. Rohner was issued a $7,500 bond with bail set at 10% of that amount.

Stewart’s attorney, Marshall S. Tauber, did not respond to the Eagle’s request for a comment by press time. Rohner was assigned attorney Michael L. Steinberg by the Michigan Indigent Defense Commission. Russo’s attorney, Christopher M. Seikaly, declined to comment on the case. Steinberg said the bond for the felony charge was reasonable.
