Brookhaven Parks and Recreation has detailed the process for renting local facilities, confirming that city residents receive a 50% discount on hourly fees. The department manages a range of spaces, including pavilions, gyms, athletic fields, and community rooms, all of which are open for reservation for various programs and events.

To secure a space, applicants must submit a facility request form for review. Staff evaluate each application based on the expected number of attendees, parking capacity, and other scheduled activities at the location. The department will not accept requests submitted fewer than 14 days before the desired date.

Upon approval, the full rental balance is due within two business days, unless a different deadline is specified in the approval. If payment is not received by that deadline, the temporary hold is released, and the date becomes available to the public again. For special events like festivals or walk/run events, a separate Special Event request is required in addition to the standard facility booking.

Applicants can find specific facility details, such as rental hours, fees, parking limits, and maximum occupancy, on the Rec 1 website under the Facility Reservation tab. The city directs inquiries regarding non-athletic spaces, such as pavilions and multipurpose fields, to [email protected].

Questions about athletic facilities, including turf fields, softball diamonds, tennis courts, and gyms, should be sent to [email protected]. Inquiries regarding pools and the splash pad go to [email protected]. The city notes that all reservation information is available on the Parks and Recreation Facility Reservations webpage.
